Presidents' Day Picnic

You might remember from Labor Day that I decided that our family tradition was going to be that on Monday holidays we have a picnic! (OMG I just looked at the pictures from that post and I can't believe how small she was!)

Well, in keeping with tradition (aka, the second time we've done this) we celebrated on Monday by going to the park with a picnic, frisbee, and cutie-pie baby in hand.

(these pictures are weird because we took them with Glenn's phone. Which is weird. Although admittedly not as weird as mine right now. I can only text words that occur in the first half of the alphabet. Don't ask.)

We ate sandwiches, strawberries, and some homemade "corn nuts" made out of chickpeas and covered in spices and some cinnamon and sugar. Yum!

Violet helped eat the strawberries, of course.

How did you celebrate?

  1. I totally forgot it was presidents day on Monday because Bryan had 2 finals. So lame! I'm not sure why they didn't get out....But those homemade corn nuts looks amazing! I now want to go make some. What other spices did you use? Did you come up with it on your own?

  2. Oh man, I hate a missed holiday!! I know ASU is super stingy about giving holidays off, maybe all Arizona schools are the same??

K, here is how I made the "corn nuts". Cook some chickpeas/garbanzo beans. Dry them off and cover them with olive oil, cumin, and cayenne and bake for and hour. They should be really crunchy. Then toss them with lots of cinnamon and sugar!

  3. Violet is big and funny and cute. To celebrate President's Day I went to work for a few hours.

  4. It does not look like Violet loves strawberries very much . . . I celebrated President's day by going to work, and then watching Ken's basketball game against GCU with some of my cousins. BYU H lost, very sad.
