Doing better

IMG_2817
Violet seems to be doing a little better! When she woke up this morning, she didn't have a fever for the first time in about 3 days. I hope it stays away all day!

Violet had her doctor's appointment yesterday. No shots this time! They did do a blood test though, and she is really low in iron. Also, she is in the 50th percentile for height, and only the 5th for weight! We have to go back to the doctor in a month for a weight check. Since she has been sick, she hasn't eaten anything but breast milk, but once her appetite is back, I'm going to have to really encourage her to eat more solid food! I feel like she is malnourished with the low iron and being so skinny!

  1. first of all, that girl is so adorable! You can never post enough pictures of her!
second, I was meaning to post on your last post about the chicken. I totally agree on how disgusting it is. How does our moms do it?
third, christian is about 5 percent or lower in weight too. It frustrates me because the solution to the problem in my doctors eyes is to feed him fattening food like cookies and icecream! Serious? It's true Christian doesn't eat alot and but he sleeps through the night and seems happy throughout the day so that's how I measure things.
Wow! I just wrote way too much. It's probably more of me venting to you!

    1. Good to hear! I saw on your post on Christian's birthday that he mostly still only breastfeeds, and that is how Violet is too. She just doesn't eat a lot of solid food yet! I'm glad you are not taking your doctor's advice, that sounds awful! Violet is also happy and is sleeping really well. She is REALLY active, so I imagine that is part of why she is not keeping weight on very well!

  2. Afton, I think that picture looks dangerous - don't let Violet fall out that window! And she is beautiful :)

  3. I love her!! and you and Glenn And I hope we get to see you when you are here.... Glenn's mom spilled the beans so you can't get around seeing us :)

Side note: Natalie was the same exact size and my doc said if she is happy that it's not problem. They measure babies against a formula feeding chart anyway so Violet will be lower already. She is perfect.

Ben was little too and my new doctor (who soon became my old doctor) said to put him on a diet of gravy and cream. I didn't do it ... now he is a TANK! You are an excellent mom.

  4. I think Violet looks totally healthy and adorable! I remember I once brought up the fact that Carly didn't eat much to our dr. and he just said that as long as the baby is growing and looks healthy and happy they aren't concerned. So, I wouldn't stress too much! Especially if she isn't throwing up or having diarrhea after eating. Camden (while huge) mainly still eats breastmilk and I'm not concerned at all. He actually hates pureed food and would much rather feed himself, so we just do that instead. Totally opposite of Carly but it works!
