The Quiche Formula

You know I love cookbooks, right?  Glenn teases me whenever he thinks I'm reading in bed, and he finds that I'm really "just reading a cookbook", which sounds super boring to him.  Anyway, by favorite cookbooks of the moment are Molly Katzen's Moosewood Cookbook and its sequel The Enchanted Broccoli Forest.

In The Enchanted Broccoli Forest, instead of a recipe for quiche, there is a "quiche formula".  Basically there are three parts to the formula besides the crust:  the cheese, the veggies, and the egg mixture.  Anyway, I have made a couple quiches using the formula, and they have both turned out great!

Last night we had a roasted tomato-sausage-rosemary quiche:

So good!

  1. Sounds awesome! I have yet to make a quiche, but maybe I can put that on our menu for the upcoming week!

I made the pesto lasagna last night with homemade pesto. I got the recipe for the pesto from the cookbook too! Both things were delicious. The lasagna recipe calls for sunflower seeds, which I thought was weird initially, but I really liked it in the dish. I also did not made my own spinach lasagna noodles, but I think it'd be cool to do that for next time because then it will be even more green! I might add some more vegetables the next time I make it too. Just some thoughts.

    1. Yum, I'll have to try that one! She has totally gotten me on a sunflower seed kick. I haven't actually made any of her recipes that use them, but I can't eat a salad or granola without them now!
